First, thanks so much for your interest in Page-Links Plus and for your purchase.

If, after installing the plugin modules, you’re having trouble with Page-Links plus, this troubleshooting guide should help.

The PLP demo site ( always runs the latest WordPress nightly release and the most up-to-date versions of Page-Links Plus and the default WordPress theme. (At present, this is “Twenty Fifteen.”) The demo instance is also as “plugin light” as possible. In addition to Page-Links Plus, it runs only a handful of essential plugins, none of which interfere with one another or Page-Links Plus.

As such, if Page-Links Plus works in the demo environment, any issues purchasers face in their own instances can be attributed to plugin conflicts, outdated WordPress core files, theme problems (usually a missing <?php wp_link_pages(); ?> function), and/or other local issues.

    • First, you’ll want to make sure your site is running an up-to-date version of WordPress. If you’re unsure of how to update WordPress, this article from the WP codex should help.
    • Second, you’ll want to make sure your server’s running the latest version of PHP. The demo site runs the “bleeding edge” release, but as long as your environment runs the latest version of 5.3+, PLP will operate as intended.
    • Third, you’ll want to verify your theme uses this function:, which is the preferred, best-practices WP pagination function. Usually, this function appears in the single.php template, but it might also be elsewhere. If your theme doesn’t include this function, you’ll want to swap it in. (Here’s the depreciated function, in case you need to try finding and replacing it:
    • Fourth, if you verify that your theme includes the wp_link_pages functuion and you’re still having issues with PLP, try deactivating all your plugins (save PLP). If PLP works on its own, try reactivating the other plugins until you find the conflicting one.

If PLP still doesn’t work at this point, let us know.

I installed the Page Links Plus. Then I uploaded through Fetch, the folders in the specified order into the plugins folder. I am only seeing the Single Page option tab in the settings. Please tell me what I did wrong!

See the photography section as an example where I added previous and next manually…This is where I want to put the Page Links Plus code at the bottom of each page. But I can’t seem to find the other tabs in the settings for multiple pages. I am only seeing the single page option.

    Hi, Grace:

This community page will walk you through the process of installing PLP:

As we discussed via chat, you’ll want to make sure these folders are present in your wp-content/plugins directory (vs. in the wp-content/plugins/page-links-single-page-option/ directory):

Then, you want to make sure you’ve activated all modules and plugins in the WP admin.

Let us know if you have any other questions, and thanks for your purchase and your interest in PLP.

I have installed the plugin but when I got to activate single page in the settings it ignores my selections when I press save and checks off ones I didnt select. Any idea what could be causing this?

    Hi, Adam:

We haven’t seen this particular issue before. However, I think it’s safe to say this is a local issue.

First, I’d try disabling all plugins save the PLP modules. If PLP works at that point, reenable the other plugins one by one until you find the conflicting one.

Second, you might make sure your install is writing to the database correctly. Reading your description, it seems PLP isn’t able to write its settings to the database.

Feel free to email if you need further assistance.
